Notes from Sacramento County Animal Care and Regulation
Meet Aldo, our Undercover Man of Mystery We have a Secret Agent at the Shelter, a Distinguished Gentleman fashioned after the likes of James Bond. His name is Aldo, & he is our undercover secret gem. Aldo is an 8yo German Shepherd mix. We don't know what that conjures up for you, but this is what we found out from a recent sleepover... `Aldo rode nicely in the car, curiously moving from window to window to take in the sights & smells, then laid down. Inside the house, no accidents, no marking, no chaos. He does his business outside & will politely paw at the door if he really needs to go. Independent- He doesn’t follow you everywhere. He prefers relaxing in the living room, content on a simple blanket instead of a fancy bed. No jumping on the couch or beds .Bath: He may not love the bathtub, but with a hose on a warm day or bucket of warm water and cup, he accepts it with stoic grace. For Aldo, fetch is LIFE ! He is athletic & fast and can entertain himself with squeaky balls for a while. Just be sure to do trading with him as he can be quick to reach for that toy on the ground. On walks, Aldo can be a bit of a puller but after some fetch, his pulling diminishes. He does not react to other dogs on walks & has a deep curiosity when seeing cats- just stopping & staring with intense curiosity. Though Aldo is independent, there are these heart-melting moments when you’re on the couch & he quietly comes over, leans in, & asks for some TLC. If your heart skipped even a little reading about him, that might be Aldo’s quiet magic reaching you.` Aldo is always charming new admirers. Give him a second look, & spend more than a moment with him. He's patiently waiting to make your acquaintance :)This handsome guy recently met some social dogs at our shelter but mostly kept to himself. He wasn’t ready to play, but we hope that as he gets more experience in our shelter playgroups, he’ll be ready to show us his silly side with other dogs. Looking for a buddy for your dog? Bring him/her to the shelter for a meet and greet and see if we're a match! Check out his playgroup video here:
