Notes from Grateful Dogs Rescue
Rocky is an adorable 7-year-old, 10-pound chihuahua. He is very versatile, comfortable on your lap soaking up ear scritches and neck rubs, or running through tall grass to retrieve his tiny tennis ball. Happy in the front seat of your car, stretched out in a sunny patch on your patio, or cruising the sidewalk of your favorite city. He is not at all demanding. Happy to chill while you work or scroll the internet.
Rocky is also very funny! He will tease you with the tennis ball and pretend to not give it, then drop it in your lap to throw for him. He barks angrily at windshield wipers and UPS trucks, but nibbles his "Mr. Lamb" toy with the tenderness of a new father.
Rocky likes both male and female humans, but is not too fond of other male dogs. He will be happiest in one-dog household or possibly with the right female dog. He has not been tested with cats or children.
Rocky walks beautifully on a leash but does not know basic commands like "sit" or "stay'. That said, he is very treat-motivated and young enough to still learn new tricks.
Grateful Dogs Rescue incurs substantial veterinary and other expenses in rescuing our dogs. In order to recoup some of these costs, we request a tax-deductible donation for each adoption. The suggested donation for Rocky is $300.
If you are interested in adopting Rocky, please complete our online adoption application at https://www.gratefuldogsrescue.org/adoption-process/ . One of our volunteers will get back to you. Adoptions are local, confined to the SF Bay Area.

What happens next
- Contact Grateful Dogs Rescue using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
- They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
- Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Grateful Dogs Rescue, never to AdoptNearby.
- Read the dogs care guide so you arrive prepared.
