Notes from Greater California German Shepherd Rescue

Gidget is an 8- to 9-month-old black and tan German Shepherd female who came from a local shelter so there is not much known about her past. She is shy about meeting new people, so she would do best in a home with another dog to help her build her confidence. She has made herself at home with the other dogs in her foster pack and is showing tremendous progress. She might not be quite ready for a busy, bustling household, but she’s comfortable in her relatively quiet foster home. She is on the smaller side at around 50 lbs and might have a bit of growing to do, but she will be ‘fun size’ even when full grown. Her gorgeous facial markings really make people take notice - she is a stunning little girl! She uses a dog door to go outside and has had no accidents in the house. She is still a puppy, so she will steal the occasional unattended sock, but she is not destructive. She has been crated for short periods when her foster mom is gone and will sleep quietly in the crate at night. While still timid sometimes, she can easily be “herded” where you want her to go and she’s learning the corresponding verbal instruction- crate, inside, outside, go potty. She is working on leash manners and confidence so small, short walks to build up her confidence will be helpful. She is getting used to being out in public and is gaining more confidence every day. She is a sweet girl who just needs time, love and attention and she will be your best companion. She is living with a cat in her foster home so may be able to cohabitate with dog savvy cats. Level 2
