Notes from Yolo County Animal Services Shelter

This just in! Gunner is a car guy! He loves car rides...he is calm and smiles when the breeze kisses his face. He especially likes a pup-cup or pup-burger at the fast food drive thru. His gentle personality makes him very social when meeting new people. He is an easy walker on a leash. He's a cool dude all the way around._____________Gunner is a 3-year-old, 60-pound neutered Pit Bull Terrier with the sweetest, softest face and so many wonderful qualities. Gunner recently spent time away from the shelter, where we got to see what a well-mannered and enjoyable companion he can be. He is 100% potty trained, walks nicely on a loose leash. He loads in and out of the car with ease, and once inside, he settles nicely and even enjoys cruising with the windows down. He also waits appropriately when doors or car doors are opened instead of trying to dash out. Gunner loves people and has done well with both adults and children. He takes treats very gently, has shown no resource guarding, and even has lovely manners in the kitchen. He is easy to handle when putting on his harness, leash, and Adopt Me vest, and he was a champ for his bath and drying. He's also a smart boy! Gunner knows sit and paw, and can even give you either his right or left paw. He has a playful side and occasionally gets a case of the zoomies, but they don't last long before he's ready to settle again. We believe Gunner would do best as the only dog, so he would need a controlled meeting with any potential `sibling.` Gunner has plenty of love and personality to fill a home all by himself. This handsome boy has shown us that he can be gentle, affectionate, smart, playful, and incredibly well-mannered. Gunner is gunning to find a family of his own! Plus he has a really cute face!!Come meet Gunner by making an appointment at yoloshelter.org/dogs, or email adopt@yoloshelter.org.
