Notes from Ventura County Animal Regulation

Happy, affectionate Canelo is a single eligible bachelor looking for something serious! Canelo’s dating profile: Sign: 4 years old, CapricornLove language: treatsHobbies: ball, cuddlesLikes: Huge fan of booty scratches! Preferences: May be happiest as the only pup, but has good experiences with dogs too. Open to meet and greets! To note: Kisses on the first dateWhat Canelo's recent fosters had to say about him:`What makes your foster delightful/special? He's very well mannered with a gentle temperament and very loving and affectionate! What are some cute things your foster does? He initiates affection and will burry his head into you and roll over for belly rubs. What kinds of routines and activities does your foster like most? He loves playing catch with tennis balls, rough housing (but he's not actually rough!), and cuddling. Is your foster potty trained? Crate trained? Are you able to leave them loose in the house and/or the yard alone? Yes, he used the doggy door since day 1 and in the 3 weeks we've had him, he's never gone to the bathroom in the house. We leave him loose in the house while we're at work, with all doors open, and he's never damaged or gotten into anything. He had full access to go in/out on his own through the doggy door. Is the dog vocal, quiet, or in between? He's quiet for the most part. He barks when he hears someone close by but only briefly! How social is your foster with new people? (describe your foster dog’s behaviors when he meets new people) He is friendly and doesn't seem to have issues with new people! With known people? He's very social with known people. He wants to play or rolls over for belly rubs. He's very friendly and out going. Describe THE ideal home for your foster? He does well on his own and entertains himself but he thrives on engagement and 1:1 playtime. He tires out fast so play time can be in short intervals, maybe a few times a day, and he's totally satisfied. He's gentle and let's us take things out of his mouth easily. He really just needs a home that will love him and let him be a part of the family. He wants to be included in everything and has FOMO. He wants a family so bad! If potential adopters have any questions about Canelo, I'm happy to answer them and I'm available for them, or the shelter, to reach out.
