Notes from Friends for Life Animal Rescue

Meet Roo, a 11month-old, 20-pound bundle of puppy love who's ready to bounce his way into your heart! When Roo first arrived at Friends for Life, he was listed as a mixed breed. But curiosity got the better of us, so we did a DNA test, and the results are in!

Drumroll, please! 🥁 Roo is 29% Basset Hound, 23% Chihuahua, and 11% Shih Tzu! That's quite the recipe for cuteness! And the best part? His lucky adopter will receive his DNA report, so you'll know exactly what went into creating this one-of-a-kind little guy!

Roo is a happy, social, curious puppy who absolutely LOVES meeting people and believes everyone deserves a generous helping of puppy kisses. He's affectionate, playful, and full of that irresistible puppy enthusiasm. He also enjoys the company of other dogs and thinks having a canine playmate is a wonderful way to spend the day!

And this little smarty-pants is already learning some important life skills! Roo is making great progress with housetraining and even knows how to use a dog door, although he still occasionally uses puppy pads. He's crate trained, knows his name, comes when called, and is working on basic commands and leash manners.

Of course, Roo is still very much a puppy, complete with boundless curiosity, playful antics, and those famously sharp little puppy teeth! He'll need a family committed to continuing his training, providing appropriate outlets for his energy, and helping him grow into a well-mannered adult.

Above all, Roo is an incredibly loving little fellow with a big heart and plenty of affection to share. He's ready to fill his forever home with laughter, adventure, and a lifetime of kisses!

Want to meet this adorable little mystery mix? Roo will be at the Friends for Life Adoption Center on Saturdays until he finds his forever family!

To get started in the process for meeting Roo, please visit https://azfriends.org/testing/adopt.html, to complete an adoption consultation form (this step may also be completed at the Adoption Center), and then come by the Adoption Center to meet an Adoption Counselor.

To get started in the process of meeting this dog, please visit https://azfriends.org/testing/adopt.html to complete an adoption consultation form, and then come by the Adoption Center to meet with one of our adoption counselors.

No appointments are necessary and you can come and see us any time we are open. Please go to our website (www.azfriends.org) to fill out a consultation form then come and see us! We do require any family interested in meeting our dogs or cats to fill out a consultation form – this form helps us determine if the dog/cat and the home are a good match, since it is so easy to fall in love with a photo, without knowing the personality of the animal. Once you have filled out the online Adoption Consultation Form, just come in and see us (or come and see us and fill out the consultation form upon arrival)!

Please note that ALL dogs and cats are available to the first home that meets the dog or cat that we feel is a good match. In order to help make the best match, we do want all family members (dogs and humans) to meet any potential new family member.

Our adoption center hours are: Closed Sunday/Monday; Tuesday 10a-2p, Wednesday 3p-7p, Thursday 3p-7p, Friday 10a-2p, Saturday 10a-4p. We are located at 952 W Melody Avenue in Gilbert (zip code 85233).
