Notes from Canine Rescue Coalition

MEET LUCIUS!

Hi! My name is Lucius, and I am one BIG baby!

I’m a 9-month-old Great Dane/Mastiff mix, already weighing over 100 pounds, so there’s a very good chance I still have some growing to do!

I am:

House trained Very friendly Great with other dogs, including little dogs Good with children of all ages Playful, goofy and affectionate A professional toy inspector

In my new home, I must have at least one or two other dogs to play with. I’m still a little under-socialized, and I really gain my confidence from other dogs. Having canine buddies around helps me feel safe, learn the ropes and come out of my shell.

Mom says I have an “acorn brain.”

I’m not exactly sure what that means, but apparently it means my brain is tiny, my attention span is even tinier, and I’m usually thinking about approximately 47 things at the same time.

I definitely could use some more leash work. When we go for walks, I want to sniff EVERYTHING, investigate EVERYTHING and see what’s happening everywhere all at once. Again… probably the acorn brain.

My favorite things include:

Bully sticks Chicken feet Duck feet Costco cookies — obviously! Toys, toys and more toys Playing with my dog friends

I’m still just a giant puppy learning about the world, and I need a family who understands that big puppies still need patience, structure, training and plenty of playtime.

If you’re looking for a huge, goofy, lovable boy who will keep you laughing and fill your home with personality, I might just be your guy!

What happens next

  1. Contact Canine Rescue Coalition using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Canine Rescue Coalition, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the dogs care guide so you arrive prepared.
