Notes from Wags and Whiskers Animal Rescue League

✨ UPDATE — MEET NIC!! ✨

How anyone could dump this sweet boy along a busy highway is something we will never understand. Nic and his friend, Nancy, were abandoned together and left to fend for themselves. Thankfully, an amazing foster stepped up when they needed someone most and gave these two deserving pups a safe place to land. ❤️

When Nic came into rescue, he was suffering from flea dermatitis and mange, but with proper treatment, care, and lots of love, he has healed beautifully! Just look at him now!

And despite everything he has been through, Nic is one of the sweetest and most appreciative boys you could ever meet. ❤️

ABOUT NIC: ✨ Lab mix ✨ Approximately 3–5 years old ✨ Around 50–55 lbs. ✨ Loves people ✨ Great with dogs of all sizes ✨ Sweet, loving & appreciative ✨ Up to date on vaccinations ✨ Heartworm negative/below detectable levels ✨ Neutered ✨ Ready for his forever home!

Nic and Nancy came into rescue together, but they are NOT bonded and can absolutely be adopted separately. They each deserve the opportunity to find the family that is the perfect match for them. ❤️

Nic has already experienced being discarded like he didn’t matter. We want the next car ride he takes to be the one that brings him HOME.

Our adoptions are NOT first come, first served, and there is no fee to apply. We never state that any animal is fully house-trained. New environments, families, situations, and routines can lead to accidents, even with animals who have previously done well in a home.

ADOPTION FEE: $195

The adoption fee includes a vet check, age-appropriate vaccinations (at least two sets for puppies), deworming, heartworm testing if over 6 months old, rabies vaccination if at least 16 weeks old, and spay/neuter.

Wags & Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. Please allow our volunteers time to respond to inquiries and applications. Thank you for your patience and for supporting rescue! ❤️

PLEASE SHARE NIC! He was once left on the side of a highway, but his story doesn’t have to end there. Let’s find this sweet boy the FOREVER HOME he deserves! ❤️

What happens next

  1. Contact Wags and Whiskers Animal Rescue League using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Wags and Whiskers Animal Rescue League, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the dogs care guide so you arrive prepared.
