Freja
Domestic Shorthair · 6 YEARS · Spayed Female · Kent, WA
Notes from Regional Animal Services of King County
Hi! My name is Freja and I am available for adoption.
I was brought to RASKC on October 5, 2026. I was in a wonderful foster home for a bit and this is what they had to say about me, "Freja is a sweet, resilient girl who has had a pretty tough couple of years and deserves a safe, loving home of her own. Freja previously had a home but was abandoned at an apartment complex about two years ago. Since then, she has been surviving outside and has had multiple litters of kittens. Despite everything she's been through, she has very clearly remembered how to trust people and how to be someone's cat.
When Freja first came inside, she was understandably terrified. She spent most of her time hiding under my bed and was very cautious about letting me near her. But the biggest thing I've learned about Freja is: give her time.
In about a week, she has made an incredible amount of progress. She started coming out more, relaxing around me, seeking attention, and showing me just how affectionate she can be. She now jumps into my lap on her own, and I'm getting to the point where I can almost pick her up! Once Freja decides you're safe, there is a loving little cat underneath all that caution.
She also has some calico sass. Freja has boundaries and isn't afraid to communicate them. When she first came inside, if she was frightened or felt pushed too far, she might swat. But that behavior has already improved tremendously as she's realized that she's safe. After surviving outside for two years, I think it's important that she's allowed to communicate when she's uncomfortable rather than expecting her to immediately behave like a cat who has spent her entire life safely indoors.
Because we're still learning who Freja is when she feels completely secure, I would recommend a home without young children for now. She would probably do best with someone who understands cats, respects their signals, and is willing to let her build trust at her own pace."
I am a gentle and loving cat who likes to take things slow. I may get nervous in new situations, so I am looking for a family who understands that I might need some time to warm up. Once I get to know you, I will be a very devoted friend!
