Notes from San Antonio Feral Cat Coalition

My name is Rosie, and I’m a girl who appreciates a little personal space, a good vantage point, and affection from someone who understands my boundaries. I’m about three years old, and I came to ACS with three kittens of my own before taking on three more abandoned babies who needed a mom. I put in my time raising little ones, and these days I’m ready to focus on being Rosie! I’m a bit cautious when meeting new people, but don’t mistake that for not wanting affection. I really do enjoy being petted, especially around my face and cheeks. Once I’ve settled in and decided you’re trustworthy, you can try some gentle strokes down my back. That’s when my tail shoots straight up to let you know you’ve found the right spot! Until we know each other well, though, I prefer a little courtesy: one hand at a time, please. I need the chance to get comfortable with you without feeling overwhelmed. Give me that consideration, and you’ll start to see the sweet side of me that’s been waiting to come out. I also enjoy a good perch where I can survey my domain and keep an eye on household happenings. I appreciate having my own space and would do well with calm feline companions who are happy to coexist without expecting me to be their full-time playmate. I’m not going to be the cat who rushes up to every stranger or demands to be the center of attention. But in a patient home where I can settle in at my own pace, I have affection to share and plenty of personality to discover. I just like to make sure any relationship starts with mutual respect.
