Notes from Dallas Animal Services

Sake is a young kitten who has sustained a fractured tail that is causing pain and discomfort. Due to the severity of the injury, tail amputation is recommended to prevent further complications and improve long-term comfort and quality of life. Sake will require surgical intervention, post-operative care, and continued veterinary monitoring, which exceed what we can consistently provide in the shelter environment. Despite this injury, Sake remains gentle and is doing their best while receiving supportive care. Sake needs a safe, compassionate placement where they can receive the necessary surgical treatment and recovery support to heal and thrive. This pet is at risk for euthanasia due to the level of medical care required, which exceeds what we can provide in the shelter. If you are interested in helping, please email dasadopt@dallas.gov with your contact information so we can call you back.

What happens next

  1. Contact Dallas Animal Services using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Dallas Animal Services, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the cats care guide so you arrive prepared.
