Notes from Dallas Animal Services

Elm is a 9-week-old male kitten in need of a rescue, foster, or adopter who can provide continued medical care and support. He is currently being treated for feline infectious respiratory disease (FIRD) and is suspected to have calicivirus-induced arthritis, which is affecting his comfort and mobility. Elm will benefit from a placement that can provide a stable environment, monitoring, and follow-up veterinary care as he continues treatment and recovery. As a young kitten, he has the potential to improve with appropriate care and support. Please share Elm's information to help us find a rescue, foster, or adopter who can meet his medical needs. If you are interested in helping Elm, please email dasadopt@dallas.gov with your contact information so we can call you back.

What happens next

  1. Contact Dallas Animal Services using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Dallas Animal Services, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the cats care guide so you arrive prepared.
