CHOWDER #20405 - Cats in the City
Domestic Short Hair / Tabby / Mixed · 2 Years 6 Months · Male · Hillsboro, OR
Notes from Cat's Cradle Rescue
Chowder is a beautiful 2½-year-old cream-orange tabby with great big eyes, an adorably round head, and a silly personality that makes him especially easy to love. He is as cute as he is loving and absolutely precious in the affection he shares with the people he trusts.
Chowder is just as happy relaxing like a couch potato as he is playing, cuddling, or sharing an engaging moment with his people. He does not want or require constant attention, but he thrives on connection, predictable routines, playtime, and affection on his terms. He is deeply emotional and, once he feels safe, forms a deep bond with his person.
Chowder has a history of eating non-food items. In his previous home, he ate non-food materials such as string, plastic, and paper. This caused significant digestive upset and required veterinary treatment to clear blockages. Since entering Cats in the City Rescue in July 2026, Chowder has gradually received more freedom as he demonstrated stability.
His caregivers have not observed inappropriate eating or play behavior while he has been in our care. He currently displays normal play, eating habits, and digestive health and is thriving. He plays appropriately with plastic, durable, and fabric toys, including when left alone with them. His future home should nevertheless be thoughtfully organized and cat-oriented, with potentially tempting non-food materials kept safely out of reach.
Chowder is neutered, vaccinated, indoor-only, and takes fluoxetine to support his emotional health. He needs to be the only pet, with no cats or dogs, and should not live with children under 8 years old. A slow introduction beginning in a carefully prepared room will help him acclimate before receiving greater access to the home. Chowder is indoor only and lives in Portland. Chowder's rehoming fee is $250.
