Notes from Rose's Rescue

Meet Iris! This sweet girl and her siblings were found at around 8 weeks old living in a garage with their feral mama. Little Iris has been getting braver in her foster home and is really starting to come out of her shell! She has recently started joining the other kittens when they come over for attention, meowing to make sure her little voice is heard. She can still startle easily, but once things are calm, she'll climb right up onto your lap and let you know she's ready for some love. Don't stop petting her, though, because she'll be sure to tell you all about it with her tiny, demanding voice! Iris is making such wonderful progress and will continue to blossom with a patient family who lets her settle in at her own pace.

Like most young kittens, Iris would be happiest in a home with feline companionship, so her ideal home will already have another friendly cat or be interested in adopting another kitten along with her. Iris has not yet met dogs but should adjust well to respectful canine friends. She hasn't spent much time around children and may need some extra patience and understanding as she adjusts to new people and surroundings. She is being fostered in Akron, Ohio, and is about 5 months old.

Iris' adoption fee of $100 includes a negative test for Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV), spay surgery, age-appropriate vaccines, deworming, topical flea prevention, and a microchip. If adopted with her sister Selene, their adoption fee is $150.

What happens next

  1. Contact Rose's Rescue using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Rose's Rescue, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the cats care guide so you arrive prepared.
