Notes from Brooklyn Bridge Animal Welfare Coalition, Inc.

This is Moniker. He’s about a year old, sleek black with a clean white tuxedo chest and four white socks. His foster says he has been one of the sweetest, most genuinely affectionate cats they've ever lived with.

From his very first day in their apartment, he didn’t hide under furniture or act cautious. He walked right out, climbed into his foster's lap, and melted. He is a pure cuddle cat who simply loves physical contact. At night, he insists on sleeping glued to his person—usually tucked against their arm or resting right beside their cheek. A few days ago, when his foster came down with a bad cold, he took it upon himself to nurse them: he curled up right over their chest, burying his face near their heart to keep them warm the entire night.

Because he loves company so much, his foster was initially worried he might have separation anxiety when they left for work. But every time they check the camera, he is simply fast asleep, completely calm and content until they get back.

A few things that make him so special:

His "bilingual" double meow: His foster talks to him in Korean, where the word for a cat's meow is two syllables (ya-ong). He started mimicking the rhythm, so instead of a single meow, he greets you with an intentional double meow ("meow-meow").

The shedding mystery: His foster prepared themselves for black fur everywhere, but he barely sheds at all. His cat bed is bright yellow and their duvet is beige, yet even on light fabric, finding more than a couple of stray hairs is almost impossible.

Agile and playful: He is remarkably fast and has an impressive vertical jump when chasing feather toys.

The nighttime routine: Like most young cats, he can get a burst of 5 AM zoomies if he has leftover energy. The fix has been simple: a solid 20-minute play session an hour before bed followed by dinner. Once he eats, he crashes out around 10 or 11 PM and sleeps straight through until morning.

Gentle temperament: He has never once hissed or swiped. Even when his foster had to give him oral medication—which usually turns into a battle with most cats—he let them open his mouth without biting or struggling.

He eats well, drinks lots of water (he just appreciates having fresh bowls), and keeps himself impeccably clean.

Moniker would thrive with someone who genuinely loves affectionate cats and wants a loyal little companion glued by their side.

This cat can be adopted with a friend or as a single cat.
