Notes from Jersey Shore Animal Center

This cat is part of our shelter outreach program where we take pets from overcrowded shelters in hopes of finding them a forever home here! We generally do not have much background info on them. They are all up to date on vaccines, spayed/neutered and microchipped. FIV/Felv negative. Queen of her castle, and staff favorite - Jesse, has been waiting for more than 2 YEARS for a home of her own. Jesse needs a cat saavy human who is patient, loving, kind and will let Jesse's personality shine and blossom. Jesse is independent yet affectionate, she’s gentle, playful, loves to perch on people's shoulders, and enjoys batting around toy mice. Jesse would be happiest in a quiet space where she can come to you for love and then curl up in a cozy bed, and maybe watch some birds and squirrels from a big window. Jesse would truly thrive as your one and only, she just wants her person (or people) to love on furrever. *Updated 10/26/26 3:00pm

What happens next

  1. Contact Jersey Shore Animal Center using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Jersey Shore Animal Center, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the cats care guide so you arrive prepared.
