Notes from Jersey Shore Animal Center

This cat is part of our shelter outreach program where we take pets from overcrowded shelters in hopes of finding them a forever home here! We generally do not have much background info on them. They are all up to date on vaccines, spayed/neutered and microchipped. FIV/Felv negative. Update 7/20/26: Porthos is truly one of the sweetest cats you’ll ever meet. He would love to be your one and only pet - and trust us, his affection and companionship are more than enough to fill a home. When Porthos arrived, he was dealing with some skin issues that we’ve been treating. He is currently doing well on a Hill’s z/d prescription diet and Atopica for allergies. His future family should be prepared to continue this care and partner with their veterinarian to keep him feeling his best. We know that medical needs can sometimes make it harder for a cat to find a home, but we hope someone will soon see past the extra care and fall in love with the gentle, loving boy we know. Porthos deserves to trade his cage for a cozy spot in a forever home. 4 years old. Please don't be put off by this boys shy demeanor. He is one of the sweetest cats around. A total lovebug. He likes to soak up all the affection and snuggles from staff and volunteers. Also a hard worker...he doesn't stop making biscuits! He is not a fan of being picked up but he loves to snuggles and be close to people. A perfect companion for anyone looking for a calm, quiet little guy. 9/18/26 12pm

What happens next

  1. Contact Jersey Shore Animal Center using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Jersey Shore Animal Center, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the cats care guide so you arrive prepared.
