Notes from St Charles County Humane Services

SIR: THE NINJA OF THE KITTEN ROOM Sir is 2 years old, currently residing in the cattery kitten room, and there's a pretty good chance you won't see him when you visit. Why? Because Sir is a NINJA. Today's hiding spot? The towels. Tomorrow? Who knows. This man is committed to his stealth mission. But behind all that disappearing-act talent is a very sweet boy who's had a pretty rough time. Sir was found outside by someone who spent a couple of weeks feeding him. When they noticed he was injured, they didn't turn away. They got him to a veterinarian, and Sir is now healing from a wound on his back. The world is still a scary place for this little guy. He's shy, and fast movements can send him straight into hiding. No children under 10, please. Sir needs a calm, patient home where he can feel safe and learn that he doesn't have to be afraid anymore. And when he's feeling brave? He has a few favorite things! * Wand toys * Balls to chase * Hidey boxes (his personal ninja headquarters, obviously!) A little about FIV: Sir is FIV-positive, which means he carries the feline immunodeficiency virus. It affects the immune system, but many FIV-positive cats live long, happy lives! It's primarily spread through deep bite wounds, not through sharing food bowls or ordinary friendly interactions. FIV-positive cats can sometimes live with FIV-negative cats when introductions are peaceful and the cats are compatible. Regular veterinary care is important, especially while Sir heals. Sir doesn't need a loud home or someone who expects him to be the life of the party. He needs someone willing to let him set the pace, celebrate the tiniest victories, and understand that trust takes time. He may be hiding in the towels today, but maybe tomorrow he'll be peeking out to see if you're his person. ??Please share for Sir! His forever home might be out there looking for a shy little ninja just like him.
