Notes from Marshmallow Foundation

Meet sweet but shy Monroe! When startled, Monroe offers a tiny, polite “pffft!” and puffs her bottle-brush tail before darting to the highest cubby like a dramatic little monarch. Minutes later, curiosity wins and she’s peeking out again, ears forward. She secretly loves wand toys AND enjoys climbing when she gets the chance outside her kennel...oh think of how much fun she will have in a home! Miss Monroe gets along well with others and watches new cats with interest. A calm feline friend would help her trust people faster.

Monroe would acclimate best in a calm, adult home (or with older kids) with at least one friendly resident cat, quiet rooms with hiding spots, and patient humans who celebrate every small brave step. With gentle time and low-pressure love, this gorgeous tortie will turn into a purring lap cat. If you’re ready to earn the fierce loyalty of a tortoiseshell who chooses you, Monroe is ready; one cautious sniff at a time!

Visitors to the shelter are by appointment only and after a form has been submitted online:

What happens next

  1. Contact Marshmallow Foundation using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Marshmallow Foundation, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the cats care guide so you arrive prepared.
