Notes from Marshmallow Foundation

James Quincy Adams is a big, dreamy orange-and-white boy with the gentlest face and huge, thoughtful golden eyes. He’s shy in the sweetest way: no hissing, no swatting—just a quiet retreat to the corner and a still orange loaf until he feels safe.

When the room is calm, he creeps out to eat, play delicately with spring toys, and curl up like a citrus-colored cloud.

Current comfort levels:

Petting: Okay but not seeking it out yet.

Play: Secretly enthusiastic — tiny hopeful pounces at wand toys.

Other cats: Calm and non-reactive; a gentle feline friend would help him bloom faster.

James needs a quiet, adult home (or older kids) with hiding spots, high perches, a predictable routine, and a patient person who celebrates small steps of trust.

One day this shy gentleman will tiptoe to your side, settle in, and share the deepest rumbly purr. If you’re ready to be the safe place an orange velvet angel chooses as home, James is waiting to slowly fall in love with you.

What happens next

  1. Contact Marshmallow Foundation using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Marshmallow Foundation, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the cats care guide so you arrive prepared.
