Notes from Midwest Pet Refuge
🐾 Meet Pengu 🐾 Pengu is a gentle soul who arrived with his five siblings, and while they’ve been busy exploring the world, Pengu is still learning to spread his wings. He’s a bit shy at first, preferring to observe from a cozy corner, but with a little patience and kindness, he’ll melt right into your heart. Once he feels safe, Pengu absolutely adores gentle pets and quiet companionship. He’s making progress every day, growing braver with each kind word and soft touch. If you’re someone who understands that trust takes time and love grows slowly, Pengu might just be your perfect match. Give this tender-hearted boy a chance, and you’ll be rewarded with the sweetest kind of love—the kind that’s earned and cherished.
🎉 Meet Our Fabulous Foster-to-Adopt Kittens! 🎉 Tiny paws, big personalities, and endless purrs await you!
Our friendly, playful young kittens are currently available on a foster-to-adopt basis—meaning you get to welcome them into your home now, with adoption finalized after their spay/neuter surgery. It’s the purr-fect way to start your happily ever after early!
But wait—there’s more to love! 😻 Our rescue requires that kittens be adopted in pairs (at a special discounted adoption fee!) or into a home that already has a young, friendly cat. Why? Because Single Kitten Syndrome is real! When kittens grow up alone, they can develop behavioral issues like biting, excessive vocalizing, or difficulty learning boundaries. Having a feline buddy helps them learn how to “cat” properly—and gives you double the cuddles, double the fun, and half the zoomies at 3 a.m. 😅
So if you’re ready to double your joy, adopt a dynamic duo, or introduce one of these cuties to your resident feline, let us know! Your new best friends are waiting to pounce into your heart. 💕🐾
Apply today and let the kitten chaos begin—in the best way possible!
🐾 Just a quick note—he's currently in foster care, not at the shelter, so he won't be available for walk-in visits. If you'd like to meet him, we'll need to schedule a meet and greet in advance. Let us know what days work best for you, and we’ll be happy to coordinate!

What happens next
- Contact Midwest Pet Refuge using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
- They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
- Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Midwest Pet Refuge, never to AdoptNearby.
- Read the cats care guide so you arrive prepared.
