Veni
Domestic Long Hair · Senior (11 years 11 months) · Male · Large · Portland, IN
Notes from Midwest Pet Refuge
Personality: Veni is a stunning longhaired gentleman with a striking black and white coat and the kind of face that makes people stop scrolling. He is friendly and affectionate on his own terms — he enjoys your company, appreciates a good chin scratch, and will let you know clearly when he’s had enough. He is not rude about it. He just has standards.
He does have preferences about, well, most things — his food, his routine, his people. Once you learn his schedule, he is an excellent and low-drama companion. He just expects you to keep up.
Good With: Veni has lived most of his life as an only pet and would like to keep it that way. He will largely ignore a calm dog who leaves him alone, though he is not above a corrective swat if they push their luck. Other cats are a harder no. He is a gentleman who prefers to be the only gentleman in the house.
He has always lived with women and seems most comfortable in that kind of household. A quiet home where he is the undisputed center of attention is exactly what he is looking for.
Background: Veni came to us when his elderly owner moved into assisted living. He has since settled beautifully into a calm foster home where he enjoys supervised access to a sunny porch — something he loves deeply — and a consistent routine that suits him well. He is a healthy, active senior who has rediscovered his appetite and his confidence. FIV positive, though you would not know it; he has never had any issues related to it and lives like any other cat.
Special Notes: Veni would thrive with someone who has had cats before and understands that a cat with opinions is not a difficult cat — he is just an honest one. He does best with wet food a couple of times a day alongside dry food available freely. He appreciates fresh air, sunny spots, and people who let him set the pace.
If you are looking for a handsome, self-possessed senior companion who will be genuinely devoted once he decides you’re worth it, Veni is your guy.
