Notes from Midwest Pet Refuge

Cher came to us back in 2021 with her siblings, all of whom have long since found their homes. She’s the last one still waiting — not because she’s any less wonderful, but because she’s a girl who loves on her own terms. Cher is a slightly shy, deeply observant cat who often prefers to be admired rather than touched. She’ll tolerate gentle petting, and every once in a blue moon she’ll surprise you with a soft purr and a tiny lean‑in… but most days she simply gives you one of her trademark looks — thoughtful, curious, and a little bit dramatic. She’s excellent with other cats, finding comfort and confidence in their company. A home with at least one friendly feline would help her feel secure and understood. Cher isn’t a lap cat, and she isn’t trying to be. She’s a quiet companion, a background friend, a steady presence who enjoys sharing space without pressure. For the right adopter — someone patient, kind, and willing to let her be herself — she’ll be a lovely, low‑maintenance addition to the home. Adoption fee: $75 Apply today at www.midwestpetrefuge.com/adopt Adoption includes: spay/neuter, microchip, FVRCP vaccine(s), rabies vaccine, flea prevention, and deworming medication. What happens next

  1. Contact Midwest Pet Refuge using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Midwest Pet Refuge, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the cats care guide so you arrive prepared.
