Notes from Lake County Animal Services

Rain is a quiet, gentle soul looking for a patient and understanding home. Rain tends to be shy and reserved, often observing the world from a safe distance, but he has consistently shown a cooperative and kind nature during his time at the shelter. Rain has also shown to be very food motivated, and we have learned that squeeze treats and wet food are the best way to gain his trust and win him over! Rain is FeLV positive (feline leukemia virus), so he will need a committed adopter who can provide attentive care and keep him indoors to support his long-term health. He also has a scar on the cornea of his left eye, but it does not stop him from getting around comfortably! While he may not immediately seek out affection, with time, stability, and a calm environment, Rain has the potential to form a deep and meaningful bond with someone willing to let him open up at his own pace.

What happens next

  1. Contact Lake County Animal Services using the button. AdoptNearby does not take applications.
  2. They will send you their application or ask a few questions about your home.
  3. Most organizations arrange a meet, sometimes a home visit, then a small adoption fee that usually covers spay or neuter and vaccines. That fee is paid to Lake County Animal Services, never to AdoptNearby.
  4. Read the cats care guide so you arrive prepared.
