Notes from Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter

Meet Benvolio, the handsome orange tabby. Benvolio came into the Shelter after his previous guardian was unable to continue caring for him. Although initially shy, Benvolio has been warming up to staff and volunteers. He enjoys Churu treats and once comfortable, petting gets his purr-machine going! Benvolio is looking for a home to live his golden years in. He has lived with another cat previously and may do well in a home with a chill feline friend after a slow, thoughtful introduction. He has been indoors only. We do not have any history of Benvolio with dogs or children. Typical to senior animals, Benvolio will need more frequent vet visits to keep him in tip top shape. Benvolio’s adoption fee is sponsored thanks to the Silver Whisker’s Society, a fund aiming to get often overlooked seniors out of the Shelter! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
