Notes from Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter

Meet Perky, the 14 year old spayed female tabby girl! Perky arrived to the Shelter after both of her guardians passed away, leaving no one to care for Perky. She had been adopted as a kitten from this Shelter in 2012 and loved very dearly by her guardians. Perky took some time to warm up to staff and volunteers at the Shelter. She is a distinguished gal that holds her cards close. When she gets to know someone, she starts to engage and show her soft, sweet side. Perky’s favorite activity in her previous home as sleeping. She has been indoors only her whole life and would like to keep up with a similar routine in the next home. She is not a fan of canines. If you are looking for a fairly independent sweetheart to love through their golden years, consider adopting Perky! Perky's adoption fee is sponsored thanks to the Silver Whisker’s Society, a fund aiming to get often overlooked seniors out of the Shelter! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
