Notes from Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter

Meet Angelica, the 14 year old cat. Angelica came to the Shelter after her previous guardian passed away and there was no one able to take her in and care for her. She took some time to warm up to staff and volunteers, understandably after all she bad been through. With time, she was at the front of the kennel greeting people, rubbing against the bars and soliciting attention. Angelica would thrive in an adoptive home that will give her the retirement home she deserves in her golden years. Adopters who have the resources (finances, time and patience) to care for a senior cat would be best as Angelica does have some medical needs beyond the average feline. We do not have any history of Angelica living in a home with other animals or with children. Angelica should be indoors only moving forward to keep her safe and sound in her senior days. Angelica's adoption fee is sponsored thanks to the Silver Whisker’s Society, a fund aiming to get often overlooked seniors out of the Shelter! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.
