Notes from Oakland Animal Services

Pixel came to the shelter after a stretch of living wild in a regional park, and at two years old he still runs at full brightness. He lights up when he spots you through the door, with a few words for you if you've kept him waiting, then makes his rounds from lap to bench to window, rubbing on everything along the way and rarely holding still long enough to come into focus. Then he'll plant his front two paws on your lap to enjoy your attention. He's been staying for longer petting sessions, giving us more time to appreciate the sweet guy beneath all that energy. Play works best when it lets him hunt. Tuck a toy behind something and his sharp eyes will lock right on. Treats also get a very enthusiastic reception! Too much petting can tip him into using his teeth, so he needs experienced adopters who can read his signals and go at his speed, ideally in a home with cat trees, high perches, and room to burn off energy.

One health note to know going in: Pixel had a seizure on his first day at the shelter. There have been none since, but the cause was never determined, so his adopters should plan on a vet evaluation and keep an eye out for any recurrence. Meet Pixel on his terms, and he'll fill your home with color, motion, and personality in the highest definition.
