Notes from Animal Rescuers Without Borders

Meet Sweetie! We accepted this adorable girl in early June 2026 after she was rejected by a local San Diego shelter for being FeLV positive. We were contacted by her rescuer seeking assistance and we took her in. We do NOT normally accept FeLV kitties, but this little girl was headed to a cage for life. Her rescuer does not believe in euthanasia and living in a cage is NO life for ANY animal. We initially had thought about euthanizing this little monkey after she experienced a couple days of relaxation and fun at Casa de ARWOB, she could at least enjoy life for a while. This is something she had not experienced since she was stuck in a kennel for a month since being rescued. However, destiny kicked in. Now we have fallen in love with this little beating heart and hence her name is sweetie. She is just a total sweetheart and we are hopeful we can find an adopter or even long term foster. Sweetie arrived ARWOB mid June. Fast forward 3 weeks she is doing AMAZING. For now she is a normal cat, kitten energy and FULL of kitten shenanigans. We have come to know what a loving, social, friendly and playful this cutie can be. She is currently at casa de arwob with lots of dogs and cats hence we DESPERATE to find a foster home with NO cats (unless they too are felv positive) she is staying in one of the bathrooms for 21 hours a day, with 3 play times a day when we put ALL the cats away so she can have the run of the house for couple of hours and RUN and be babied at her heart content but wouldn't it be WONDERFUL if we could find a forever adopter who understand that Felike Leukemia(FeLV) positive kitties are just like any other cat, however, some kitties tend to have a short life span and start declining when they are teenagers and sometimes these felv kitties CAN grow to be senior cats. We just don't know. You can adopt this girl and be heart broken within the year or luck out and have her for 10yrs! If you want to love a sweet kitty and provide her with the best life she can have for as short or long as possible we think you should meet this beauty! She is excellent with dogs and cats but of course she can't be with cats but she would love to be...anyone who have an FELV kitty who would like to adopt her? it is imperative who ever adopts this girl agrees and understands why euthanasia is IMPORTANT to provide quality for life NOT quantity as its important to us she lands with a human who will do right by her and understand there is NO treatment for FELV and when her health starts declining they do right by her. She must be an INDOOR cat for multiple reasons. If you'd like to foster her even for the month of July be it a month or longer we would provide all equipment and care for the medical. We may be able to do a forever foster and keep her under ARWOB for the future medical which we can talk about when talking about the process. We just want her to have an opportunity at life short or long but a happy one. She loves cat toys, mice with little rattle noise, lazer pen, wand toys, watching out the window for sun and birds PLUS her motor is LOUD and her kissy personality (you know the type, they start making muffins and all of the sudden you have a little kissy face on your arm/chin etc ha!)Questions before submitting an application? email or text us and we can schedule a callSubmit an application online at ARWOB.org
