Notes from Palomacy Pigeon & Dove Adoptions
Meet Violet. Violet was found as an 8-week-old pigeon incredibly lucky to be alive. During morning rush-hour traffic on a very busy street, Violet was lying helplessly in the gravel on the side of the road after being struck by a car. Her rescuer happened to be stopped briefly in the heavy traffic and, by chance, looked over at exactly the right moment. Seeing the tiny bird lying there, they quickly pulled over and got her out of harm’s way. When Violet was picked up, it was discovered that her right leg had been fractured. Thankfully, her rescuer was able to get her leg splinted and pain medication started soon after she was saved. Violet is now in medical foster care, where she can safely rest, heal, and recover surrounded by kindness and lots of love. She is a quiet, gentle young bird who already seems curious about the world around her. After such a traumatic beginning, Violet finally has the chance she so desperately needed. Time will tell how she blossoms as she grows into the beautiful adult pigeon she is meant to become. For now, she gets to be safe, comfortable, cared for, and loved. We are so grateful someone happened to be in the right place at the right time. Without that moment, Violet almost certainly would not have survived.
